a land destined or designed for W.A.R?

What is a “promised land” that you have to

Kill for.

When it is a homeland that people are willing to

Die for.

Are the lifeless bodies piling for decades circa 1948 not enough for you to remember the sacrifices they made?

“Rest assured,” they say. “The people of God will save the day.”

But when I ask, “Who is this God, who demands for weapons of mass destruction and stolen lands to be obstructed?”

They simply turn their heads the other way.

Why is that we wage war

when capitalist greed seems to be threatened,

so the ones who haven’t paid their debts still remain weaponed?

Are we so quick to be silenced

by the prepaid checks of brand deals that guarantee our loyalty,

by the media channels that so conveniently target Muslims and Palestinians alike?

Like a book with missing pages, we begin to see the story they want us to see.

Recognizing lawful resistance as radicalism because suddenly the ones who were refugees have become the colonizers.

I wonder if their land was destined or designed for W.A.R?

Perhaps every remaining land of the East remains a sour reminder of the prevailing Mughals and Sultans.

The domes of historic mosques still sparkle like a warning to all those who question the purity of Islam.

A cold reminder of a tale of lost empires prophesied to return once again.

May they be warned that you can only control destiny for so long.

May we dig our heels in the soil of this fight.

May their cries for help become shouts of victory.

May Palestine reign free again

From the river to the sea.

As always,
